Lisa Horgan & Ben Poitras of Hudson's Art, Home & Gift in Conway had the Handcrafter's Barn in North Conway Village for 18 years, and then their landlord sold the building. Instead of dealing with the uncertainty of a new landlord and all the things that entails, they decided to purchase a place that would be theirs completely. They took their favorite items from the Barn including framed local art, Amish furniture, handbags, candles, jewelry and, of course, their locally-made signs, created by Ben and Depot Street Signs!

Ski posters by Diane Mellan, area rugs, and their Amish-made rocking chairs are a few of their top sellers.

They are always adding some fun new things to the product mix as well. The store is named after their sweet pup, Hudson. He's in the store most days and always looking for a pat or a treat. He loves getting his belly rubbed.

Lisa and Ben attend lots of gift shows and travel to Amish Country to find handmade treasures. Ben makes all of their signs himself, through his company, Depot Street Signs.

Before purchasing the Barn, Lisa was a sales rep on the West Coast in the gift industry, and Ben was a ski equipment sales rep. She was originally from MA and Ben from Maine. After college, Lisa lived here in the early 90s, moved to CA for a time, and when she decided to come back East, she realized North Conway was home more so than MA. Ben had a job opportunity that brought him here. They met through mutual friends at one of their favorite local restaurants in 2006 and haven’t looked back.

Hudson's Art, Home & Gifts has only been in business since February 2024, but Summer was a good season, and Lisa and Ben are hoping for a busy holiday season. They hope people find them to be a valuable resource for home décor for their ski lodge, cabin, rental, or second home, as well as finding a special gift for themselves or someone else.

They are a bit off the beaten path at the corner of Washington Street and Route 16, but more people are finding them every day, and they hope that continues as people discover a new store in Conway!
