The Rugged Mill is the “Quality Outdoor Outfitter” that was established in June 2010 by locals, Matt & Carissa Fusco, in North Conway Village. The decision to open The Rugged Mill began when the retail store in North Conway that Matt had managed for 10 years decided to go out of business. The timing was difficult because the decision coincided the “Great Recession,” and Matt and Carissa had a 2-year-old and a newborn at the time. With limited job options, and under pressure to provide for his family, Matt decided to take his extensive knowledge of retail, put a business plan together, and “jump in” on the path of entrepreneurship.
The Rugged Mill was founded on the premise of providing top quality outdoor products and the Fuscos’ belief in providing the best customer service possible. The Rugged Mill offers some of the topmost recognizable outdoor apparel brands featuring Patagonia and including Pendleton, Kuhl, Arborwear, Outback Trading Co., Toad & Co., Dakota Grizzly, Royal Robbins & Kavu to name a few.
The store also carries an extensive selection of New Hampshire novelties and souvenirs, Puppie Love, Jeep apparel, Boston Sports apparel, funny tee-shirts, fashion accessories, blankets and throws, wool socks and so much more!
