Bryon & Ali Gil began their journey at White Mountain Winery (known as Vintners Cellar at the time) by coming into the winery for their weekly fix of amazing wines.  After a few months of coming in, and their pallets growing, they became friends with the previous owner.  She explained that she was at the point of getting out of the business and wondered if they would be interested in learning how to make wine.  They worked with her and her partner for several months and learned how to create a fantastic product.  She offered them the chance to purchase her equipment, and they couldn’t resist.  The only thing that they did differently was to change the name and continue to improve how they made the wine.  They now make a superior product of which they are very proud.

Within their first year of business, they expanded by adding more production areas, tables, carboys, and fermenting containers.  Then they added storage for red wine in order to keep up with the growing demand. Next, they had to expand their kitchen and add eight tanks to increase their production further.  Their most recent expansion was the addition of more tanks bringing the total tank count to 18! But “the most important thing they have done to improve their business” (says, Bryon & Ali), “was to bring into the partnership our LONG-time best friend/sister, Trish Potosky!”

All of their wines are created with minimal sulfites added and no extra tannins. They find that when they produce their wines this way, they come out much smoother and more flavorful on the pallet. Also, people with a sensitivity to some wines do not have a reaction with their wine.

In addition to their retail wine sales, they offer first come, first served, tastings every day that they’re open. Tastings are done a la carte for a dollar each sample for most wines and five dollars for each sample of select reserve wines. Reservations also are available for private parties, such as bridal showers, on a limited bases outside of normal hours of operation (email whitemountainwinery@gmail.com for more info).

Now in their ninth year of business, they are a family owned and run winery. They enjoy spending their days together making and selling their wines.  Their adorable pups Doc, Lucy, Stella and Scarlett are there with them on a daily basis and enjoy their job as the winery greeters/bosses.  All tips from their bar are donated to the local area humane societies in the honor of these rescue dogs. To date, they have donated over $65,000.00!
